Greetings fron the Course Director
Over past years it has become apparent that there are skills shortages in wood products industry. This is not a local problem only in any one country particularly but this is a global issue.
Finnish Sawmillmen’s Association and LAB University in Lahti decided to act and the result is the first ITA 2020 course, which has started already. The fact that we have 37 students from 13 countries and 4 continents proves there is a global need for this type of training.
Finland is the fourth largest softwood exporter in the world. Despite of our long traditions within the forest industries, our forests have more wood and they grow faster than ever. How are the Finnish forests taken care of? How is the world class sawn timber produced? What are the end uses for different panel products?
Welcome to the 1st International Timber Academy course on spring-summer 2020 to learn of the leading forest industry in the world, hear views of the trade and enjoy the international relaxed atmosphere in Lahti region.
